A survey of amenability of operator algebras, and algebras of abstract harmonic analysis

I wish to give an overview of amenability, in the sense of B. Johnson, ultimately highlighting some results to which I contributed.  Amenability for Banach algebra has two essential relaxations, weak amenability and Connes amenability.  I will give an overview of how these concepts apply to operator algebras, and also to group and measure algebras; and then to their dual counterparts, Fourier and Fourier-Stieltjes algebras.
